One hour to go!

I've one hour to go to complete this non-eating bet and of course after doing 83 hours I'm not going to buckle now. However, the last time I heard from Ken (9pm-ish yesterday) he hadn't eaten either so looks like a draw is on the cards. There is hope though - he went out last night and alcohol wasn't allowed and I text him a couple of times during the night with no response. I think he's lying in a gutter drunk. Winner?!

Going to have my usual football bets as well as a small dabble on the horses. Hopeful of a big winner today:

Plymouth v. Southampton
Hearts v. Hibs
Ross County v. Airdrie
Scunthorpe v. Wolves - DRAW
Clyde v. Dundee

These are just a few of my selections, no doubt by the time 3pm comes around I'll have a good few more bets on.

Good luck Gamblers! Bring on the food!

Finaltablephobia

Don't go searching your dictionarys - it's not a word.

Played the 10k gtd on blonde at midnight last night and got off to a flier! Raised AQc up and found 3 callers, flop brings KJ4 all clubs. Checked to me on the button and I fire out, called in one place and raised in another - I want his full stack so call the raise here, the other guy folds. In a way this makes it obvious I have the flush but the standard isn't great here and the alarm bells may not have been ringing in his head.

The turn bring the 10c - ROYAL FLUSH!

I tried desperately to somehow save the hand history or convert it but had no idea what I was doing and it was lost when I moved table sometime later. Anyway, the guy pushed the turn with bottom set and that was that. I busted another person soon after when I flopped broadway with J10d and the guy paid me off with top pair.

From this point on I was never out of the top ten and playing comfortably but I pushed to hard near the final table and bust 12th - I must learn to slow down even a touch here although I always feel the need to be aggressive with the stacks so shallow. I don't know why.

So 12th for a tawdry 100 bucks when I had my eyes firmly on 1st and $2700. Too many finishes in the teens - need these translated into final tables.

On a side note - there is 10hrs 37mins to go til I can eat again. I don't feel hungry but I know for sure I'll be starving later tonight. Ken hasn't eaten either so there is a good chance this is gonna end in a draw - balls!
I've been stepping on the scales morning and night over the last few days and my weight has been fluctuating a bit. Down 5 pounds, up 2 pounds, down 3 pounds, up two pounds, down two pounds - the scales are ridiculous electronic things and good chance they are wrong as I can't see how I can be down 6 pounds in less than 3 days so far.

Anyway - thanks for listening to me blethering and I'll be back tomorrow with some football betting!

Rock on!

Food is a myth!

Who needs food? Not me - it's now been 41hrs and 26mins since I ate.

Yesterday evening was tough but managed to scrape through. Today has been easier although I'm starting to feel hungry now which happened about the same time yesterday - think my stomach is telling me it's tea time by the large noises coming from it.

Lost some cash dabbling on the horses yesterday but won most of it back with bets on Man City and PSG. That said I've got a few bets on for tonight at Wolverhampton with one in particular at a big price so I hope it goes well, prices in brackets:

6.50 :- Figaro Flyer (5.0) - bad start 5th of 6
7.50 :- Without Excuse (23.0) - 4th
8.20 :- Chart Oak (9.4) - 4th
8.50 :- Blue Hills (4.8) - 2nd
9.20 :- Valhillen (4.3) - 1st

Granted I'm generally useless at horse tipping but I feel a winner or two amongst this lot - hopefully Without Excuse!

Peace.

Eating is Cheating!

This may sound ridiculous but I'ma sucker for a good bet. My friend Ken ( http://kennyspokerroll.blogspot.com/ ) challenged me to a bet which got me excited. It basically involves not eating food! The bet will run from this morning at 1am until Saturday at 1pm - a total of 84 hours. We are both not allowed to eat any food between these hours with the exception being the agreed rules of a pint of milk and a 500ml bottle of juice every 24hrs, as well as as much water as we like. The bet isn't a last longer type - to win you must not eat until 1pm on Saturday, so it doesn't matter if Ken stops eatting now I still have to last the full time to claim the £20 winnings.

This bet is obviously ridiculous but I want to win and will be pushing my body to the max to win. Wish me luck!!!

KJ Joy

So KJ Choi doubled with boldie's tip (Nycteos) left me marginally in profit for the weekend. I was pleased but at the same time disappointed as my poker play hadn't gone well with the big win I seek looking a mile off.

Made profit tonight - bet on Dundee HT/FT at 2.25 on Betfair against Huntly. They are my home team so you will often see many of my bets include them. This time they promptly delivered. As did Blackburn at the weekend - my "English team"!
I struggled to find a good bet for Liverpool tonight - I eventually plumped for Liverpool -3 on Ladbrokes which came in obviously as 'Pool romped home 5-0. Annoyed as I had said to my friend earlier in the day that I facied 4-0 or 5-0!!!

Choo choo!

Need a winner this weekend!

Not going to bore you with a bad beat story but a 3 outer knocked me out of the $12.5k gtd on blonde last night in a monster pot with a tenth of the field left. Give me a break god dammit!

I see KJ Choi leads golf's Sony Open - I managed to get a bet on him as he was one of the late tee times on Thursday after a bit of research. Got on at 22/1 - unfortunately only for £2! A wins a win though so come on KJ.

Today I have a mixture of football and racing bets on:

£10 accy: Watford, Swansea, Gretna and East Fife.
£5 accy: Falkirk/Aberdeen, Sheff Utd/QPR, Wolves/C.Palace - all draws.

These should pay reasonably if they come in. Got a decent single on Swansea too - they're my banker.

Stuck a pavarotti on some nag that boldie on the blonde forums insists is a banker (goes by the name of Nycteos), doubled it up with Arnold Layne in the 2.30 at Warwick who's been tipped up by Matt Doyle on ATR who is a reliable tipster.

Really hope I get something back today, otherwise I'll be on life tilt.

Thanks to Kenneth M. and Horneris for their comments!

Drunken Rules of Poker

After enjoying multiple bottles of Stella "wife beater" Artois and some cheap £1 self-proclaimed Jamaican Lager Beer 'Red Stripe' I came home and felt the need to play poker. Note to self: Not a good idea Scott. If I do feel the need in future I'm sure there are some rules I should I enjoy!

1. Make sure you can see computer screen.

2. Don't ever play cash online when you are drunker than the skunk who lives next door.

3. Rebuy tournaments are to be avoided - excessive rebuys will be enjoyed and will harm the wallet.

4. Drink irn-bru.

No doubt more will be added to this list in the future.

Off to check my football bets from last night had a bet on MK Dons purely cos I wanted to bet and had 5 mins on a break from work. EDIT - They drew after 90mins, annoying as I'd teamed them with a couple of other winners from last night. Bugger.

Thanks for reading - seems I have 33 views, pretty sure half of those are mine. Feel free to leave comments to make me feel good - even if it is just a hello.

Update!

Hope you like the funky post title - it just came to me!

Furious with myself right now - just bummed out the $50 7.5k gtd MTT on blonde in 18th place for only double my money with a poor play. I really need a 1st in one of these tournaments to boost me up. I'm sure it's coming as I feel I'm playing pretty well. Just hope it's soon.
Turns out I end the day with less roll than I started after dabbling with the cash tables, why did no-one stop me?

Portsmouth won on Saturday as tipped, as did St Johnstone, but Birmingham and Falkirk were losers - still made small profit. Vijay Singh was no where near in the golf for another lost bet.

Pah!

Just finished the $10k gtd again on ipoker - a 17th place finish of 397 runners has left me pretty frustrated. Pretty close to the decent pay day I'm after to get me going. Tbh, it was a pretty uneventful tournament with ABC poker getting me down to the last 50 or so with better than average chips. Ran into AA on a K high flop when I was holding KQ - an easy hand to get away from if the stacks were deeper but at 3k/6k and a stack of only 50k it was tough. Anyway $117 is better than a boot in the balls. Next time! Which incidently will probably be the crappy £10 fo down at the Gala tomorrow - no big prizepools there but more live experience.

So had a solid look at the football coupon for tomorrow and decided on a few bets. Portsmouth are available at about 6/5 and I think it's a great bet - people will point to Ipswich having the best home record in the Championship but Pompey have one of the best away records in the Premiership. And everyone knows Premiership > Championship. Portsmouth are losing players to the African Nations after this game and I believe they will be fielding a near on full strength team which will be too strong for Ipswich.
Birmingham are another selection, they will beat Huddersfield, and Falkirk and St. Johnstone stand out in the Scottish leagues. Due to only playing for small stakes most of my selections tend to be evens at worse. I've made decent profit 3 of the last 4 football cards so I'm hopeful of another winner today/tomorrow/whatever.

$117 in my blonde account - someone stop me from hitting the .25/.50 cash tables please cos I'm tired (and not to mention shit at cash).

Good night.

FA Cup Weekend

Two bets jump out at me straight away, Birmingham (4/5) away to Huddersfield and Pompey (EVNS) away to Ipswich, mainly due to the decent prices on offer. These aren't definate bets though and I'll most certainly looking for team news for all games on Saturday to make sure the sides I'm betting on are fielding strong line-ups against supposed weaker opposition. I'll post up my bets for the weekend on Saturday morning. I've been running well in the Scottish markets so hope to pick out a few decent bets there.

Busted from the $10k gtd on blonde just shy of the cash - 55/357. Two pair no use against a flush draw for a pot which would have got me above average for the first time in 2 or 3 levels.

There's always next time.

2008 - Let's Do This!

First post baby! Blogging seems popular, so thought that I would create one to keep me occupied when I'm bored. I'll be mostly discussing my sports betting and poker in this blog. This will also be a good way of keeping track of how much money I lose (or somehow win).

I got a decent win at the rear end of 2007 on blonde but had to withdraw the whole lot to tide me over xmas. Being a student with a crappy part time job isn't good for the bank balance. I intend to play a lot of MTTs this year, whilst avoiding the online cash world which sends me loopy. I also intend to up my sports betting after making decent profit from small stakes in December. The horses have been profitable lately too, with a combination of tips (thanks Boldie) and guessing.

So I'm virtually starting from zero. I have no roll. I really have no idea how to go about building one. People always state bankroll management as key to poker and since my skills in this department are non-existent I'm onto a loser already but I love the game and simply have to play. I'll probably just deposit onto blonde, or whatever site has a tournament that takes my fancy and hopefully a decent win can start my bankroll off. I'm playing for fun, but profit is always good.

My first tournament of the year was down as Gala Dundee last night. They have introduced a new Wednesday £30 fo for this year which appeals to me and replaces one of the shitty rebuys. I'll be playing this tournament most weeks I can as well as the £10 fo on a Saturday afternoon to keep me occupied and the Sunday £25 plus one rebuy or addon.
I've not had much success at the Gala since I started playing there last summer apart from a minor cash in the £10 shitfest and I won a student tournament for £250 in November I think. Last night was no different as I struggled and busted out in about the third level after being crippled early and pushed my c.6bbs into any unopened pot, was successful twice and then called by AJ leaving me two live cards with my 10,7 but didn't improve and that was me.

Anyway, checked my bank balance and it's not as bad as I feared so I think I'll play a tournament tonight - the $30 double stack at midnight provided me with a win last year so let's hope it kicks me off in 2008 with a win.

Sports bet for the day - £10 on Vijay Singh to win the Mercedes-Benz Championship at 6/1.

Thanks to anyone who reads this.

Scott
